With an established customer-base in Australia, and a growing presence in the US, Teach Starter has supported over 145,000 teachers and reached over 3 million students since launch. Started by K-6 teacher Jill Snape and designer Scott Tonges as a newsletter for teachers in 2012, Teach Starter has grown and evolved to create an impressive, curated library of teaching resources, classroom solutions, and educator apps to give K-6 teachers the tools and inspiration they need to design unique and impactful classroom experiences.

Tes already operates a large resources platform, with community-created content, which has become the go-to solution for teachers looking for free and paid-for resources developed by fellow teachers. With a well-established market in the UK, and a skew towards secondary education, the addition of Teach Starter to the Tes family is one that compliments and completes the picture for the entire community.

Rod Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Tes, said: “The team at Teach Starter are passionate about arming teachers with the best tools to positively impact teaching and students around the world. Over the last decade, the business has grown into something truly impressive, supporting the education of millions of students. That international outlook and passion for supporting great teaching aligns perfectly with Tes, and we are delighted to welcome them and their expertise into the Tes family.”

Liz McMillan, Chief Executive Officer of Teach Starter, said: “Only ten years ago, this business started with something very simple, but with a great vision. Today we are becoming part of one of the most established brands for supporting teachers and schools across the globe. We thrive when we see our actions positively impact teachers and students, so knowing that we are joining others that share those values is an important ingredient in how we grow from here to support many more teachers and students.”

With Teach Starter and Tes both holding expertise, content, and audiences in different education areas and locations, the opportunity in the future for enhanced experiences for this wider teacher community is very real. However, the priority right now is to continue the current developments of both platforms to support teachers in their passion and dedication to great teaching.

With Tes already operating out of offices in Sydney and Melbourne, the addition of Teach Starter’s office in Brisbane, adds a third office from where teachers and schools will be supported across Australia.
