Ppt giving overview of Life Cycle Assessments. Pupils come up with their own one for a cotton tshirt. Practice exam Qs could be used as a plenary. I used this with a higher set. For OCR 21st Century.
Designed to help students understand the idea of assessing sources for reliability when doing case study coursework for OCR 21 Century. Each group gets an A3 copy of the reliability ranking table. Each source is numbered. For each source, students place its number on the relevant spot on each row of the table. They can then see at a glance whether it is reliable or not. They should then be able to give reasons and start writing about reliability.
This is a worksheet to give students some practice at designing tables for their experiments. It starts simple and gets harder. My students seem to find drawing tables really difficult! This could be used with year 7s but I am also using with my year 9s and 10s as a recap.
This was made to work with a low ability class. The picture side can be used as a revision aid/info sheet or talking prompt. It could also be put up as a poster. The words side can be used to help develop explanation skills. Could be used for written work or as oralcy prompts or (if laminated) sentences could be added with a marker pen. Written with OCR 21st century in mind C2.
A booklet with the following topics for the 2022 A-level Chem AQA course for students to practice retrieval for the items they need to learn by heart. Based on DrHollyHills similar resource for GCSE.
Acids and Bases
Transition Metals
Group 7
Atomic Structure
Bonding
Equilibria
Thermodynamics
Electrochemistry
Do let me know if you spot any errors/omissions. I will use this for revision homeworks and mini low stakes tests.
OCR 21st Century science unit C1
Activity for low ability students to see where pollutants end up.
The image on the powerpoint slide can be printed out onto A3 to make a poster and the labels can be printed onto paper to be glued in place or onto Avery labels and stuck in place.
Contains an image from the Collins resource pack.
Two versions of same ppt for lower set (ls) or higher. I used an amended version of the C3_08 Collins worksheet, which I don't think I can post for copyright. Should be clear which questions are used.
I used the 'ls&' version with a lower set and the other with a higher set, Goes through the learning obejctives needed for 21st Centruy C3 salt. The mindmap could be useful for revision.
This resource follows on from a lesson establishing the reactivity series of metals with water and oxygen. Students plan their experiment - the aim is to develop good method writing to support GCSE questions on practicals, draw a table (see my table drawing resource if students need support with this) and carry out the experiment. They recap variable types. There are extensions for those who need it for each activity and a writing frame/table template to support those who need it. The extension activity on explaining reactivity can be printed and given to selected students.
This could also be used with late KS3 students.
These are designed to follow a homework where students learn the key words from the glossary, either from the activate sheets or from a platform such as Carousel (where someone has already provided a quiz bank for this) and then sit a short test.
These are mostly multiple choice to make for fast administration. As vocabulary is a big predictor of science attainment we are prioritising this by embedding these in each unit.
We have adapted the teaching order slightly so the units are slightly different to Activate AQA order. This is the first iteration so feedback very welcome.
