Making a Fruit Salad

I have attached the first three lesson plans in a 5 week unit of DT, introducing different fruits to support the children in designing and making a fruit salad at the end of the unit. The PowerPoint includes a sorting activity of fruit and vegetables and a quiz. Apologies that it is not a complete set of plans but I hope it helps in the introduction of the topic! Thanks for looking :)

This resource is a worksheet to support a 3D shape hunt activity. The children are required to name the shapes shown in the table and then either photograph or draw the items they have found on their shape hunt. Thanks for looking. Hope it is useful :)

World Cup Flag Printables

(4)
I have put together a PowerPoint containing the flags of the 32 teams that will be taking part in The World Cup 2014. There is flag for colouring and underneath, a flag shown in colour for the children to copy. I have made the flags quite small as they are going to be used for our league table competition however, feel free to alter them to suit your requirements. I hope they come in useful. If they do, a review would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks for looking.

Jumbled Instructions for Washing Hands

These instructions are in the wrong order. Work with the class to put them in the correct order again. This is an interactive tool and can be used on an interactive whiteboard as word document (text boxes can be dragged around the page). I used this with my class and was lucky enough to have a sink in the classroom. I asked one of my children to follow the jumbled instructions to make it more engaging and to further demonstrate the importance of sequencing! Hope it helps :)

The History of the World Cup

(1)
A PowerPoint showing the history of the world cup. Annotated pictures about the footballs (old and new), the trophy and it being stolen, a list detailing who has hosted and won the world cup over the years and a section on England's big win in 1966. The children will design a league table display. They&'ll each pull a flag out of a hat and colour in the flag (for flags see my other resources). The flag they pull out is their world cup team... Who can win the world cup? I hope this is useful to you. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking :)

Independent Instruction Activity: Chinese Dragon

This has been made as an independent extension activity. The children can follow the simple instructions to make a Chinese dragon. Pictures are included to support children who are not confident readers. I have made this into a child friendly activity however, the materials were sourced from http://www.enchantedlearning.com/crafts/

Register Time Subtraction

This is a nice morning registration activity that can allow you to cram an extra 5 minutes of maths into your busy timetables! This PowerPoint is based on a class of 24 but please add/subtract children as necessary. The idea is centred around subtraction. If you have people marked as away in your class, move the children over to the house picture and they 'disappear&'... Then you can count as a class how many people are left. This could then be shown as a number sentence to show that 24 children takeaway 3 children is 21 children! Enjoy!

Making a playdough cat

This worksheet shows the process of making a cat out of playdough. The idea is that the children work in pairs to make the cat; Child A will use the pictures to talk Child B through making the cat. The label boxes can then be filled in. The visual prompts will aid them in sequencing the process and work as a memory jog! It may need a bit of 'tweaking&' but I hope it comes in useful :)
