A successful application letter for a key stage 2 job in a private school in the South West of England. I found it difficult to write my own so thought this might help someone who needs some inspiration!

A 6 week writing block focusing on different genres of writing Writing tasks: Write an informal letter in role as a character Write a newspaper reporting the event/interviews of the family Write a character description of Michael and Kensuke Write a continuation of this chapter, explaining how he got there in the style of Michael Morpurgo, rather than in the style of Michael’s log book Write a setting description of the island Write a dialogue in crisis between Michael and Kensuke Independently plan and write an adventure story of discovering a new island

Year 5/6 writing unit- thriller Linked to literacy shed ‘Francis’ 3 weeks of several writing opportunites focusing on show not tell, changing atmosphere, buliding tension/suspense. Final Task: Write an atmospheric narrative in the style of Francis Purpose: Entertain the reader and capture the reader’s imagination by developing tension, suspense, setting and characters
