This is the 30 minute Literacy lesson that I planned and delivered in a year 4 class as part of my interview process for the role of class teacher. I was successful at lesson observation stage and was formally offered the role :) I decided to focus on expanded noun phrases and creating suspense. I have added all resources that I provided during the lesson. I took in a set of large, old, rusty keys as the writing prompt/stimulus. I hope that it is of some help to any candidates going to interview or simply as a stand alone lesson.

This ppp uses visual stimulus (base-10) to recap on subtraction with regrouping. The ppp focuses on 2dig - 2dig and regrouping tens into 10 ones. Ppp is fully animated and progresses through to column method alongside the visual representation, followed by column method on its own.

Based on ‘Pause for thought: how do you feel?’ from assemblies.org. This ppp has been created to allow children to discuss their different emotions and how they can change. UKS2 extension: ‘The Guesthouse’ poem by Rumi. An 800+ year old poem that talks about imagining ourselves as a guesthouse and welcoming all emotions as though they are our guests.
