Countries of Europe

(1)
This was an activity I did with my year 7’s. I had them choose different countries within Europe and gave them a fact file on their country, they then had to choose the most interesting and important information and present in to the class. They also had to show the class where it was on the map and the rest of the class would write the country name onto their maps.

The Power of Words: Inclusive Language

(1)
This is a presentation and activity I made up for a group of year 8’s, but it could be adapted for many years. It looks at the importance of inclusive language. It goes through words you should not use, and why. How to deal with non-inclusive language and how to address it with other people. Finally it has a stop-light activity where students choose a non inclusive word, why we can’t say it, and alternatives to that world.

Elements of Music

This a powerpoint I made to go through the elements of music. It was specifically relating to the song Stand by Me and I used the website Edpuzzle to create a video where students would listen to the song with me interjecting to ask question, to see what elements of music they could identify. Edpuzzle is great because rather than trying to stop a video in class, you can already had it all recorded and ready to go. Here is the link for the video. https://edpuzzle.com/assignments/5802501d153f14e63ea617ee/watch
