RE GCSE AQA Christianity Beliefs - Revision Lesson

(1)
I have put this revision lesson together which either can be used at the end of the Unit before an end of unit assessment, or as revision for the final upcoming exams in Year 11. This is suitable for all abilities as it does not attempt to deal with the subjects in depth - we have already done that in each taught lesson. I teach this as a memory jog - the students can work through it at the same time as looking through their original notes and highlighting them etc. There is a handy evaluation at the end so that students can judge where their home revision focus needs to be, going forward. The PPT could be printed out and the resources used as a cover lesson too if needed, as the slides inform the learning / revision map and are numbered to keep everything really simple.

AQA RE GCSE Spec A - Key Teachings Sheet for use with Paper 2 Themes and Religion and Life Teachings

(1)
This resource is ideal for establishing some baseline and universal teachings for use in the Thematic Studies Paper 2 part of the new AQA RE Spec A. I have focused on Judaism, Christianity and Buddhism and just given a few teachings which can be applied anywhere in the course. I have laminated this for my year 11's who are finding it really useful when preparing answers for Q3, Q4 and Q5. On the reverse is a list of the possible comparisons that can be used in the 4 mark 'contrasting' question, and the 3 areas of focus for each unit that our College is covering. It would be very easy to edit it and include different religions or topics as you need to. I have also added a booklet which I provide to my students at the end of the topic so that they can see the specific teachings which relate to that unit of work and also how to construct the response to question 3, with the 'contrasting' views. More resources to follow if they are needed :)

RE GCSE AQA Theme E Religion, Crime and Punishment

6 Resources
This bundle contains everything that you need to teach Theme E - Religion, Crime and Punishment. If you are running short of lesson time (like me) then this is ideal as I have kept everything concise and covered the whole unit (be it slightly rushed) in 5 double lessons. I have also included a detailed ‘Essential Guide to Theme E’ with teachings, a glossary etc. There is finally an end of unit assessment with 9-1 mark scheme.

RE GCSE AQA Exam Skills Tutorial - Q4

(1)
A two sided tutorial showing students how to answer the 5 marker question 4, on teachings. This one was developed within the Religion, Peace and Conflict unit so the example is on forgiveness, but that could be changed. I have also included this sheet in the lesson that I have for sale in this unit called L4 Just War and Holy War.

RE AQA Spec A Religion, Crime and Punishment - L4 Prisons

(1)
This is the fourth lesson in the SOW - Religion, Crime and Punishment. I have largely used a BBC documentary for the main part of the lesson because it is hugely informative as to some of the issues within prison, the reasons for reoffending and the causes of crime in the first place. I have written a sheet to go with it and some questions for the end to demonstrate progress and achievement.

A simple checklist for you or students to use to check off their revision topics. This one is Paper 1 - Judaism and Christianity and Paper 2 - Themes B, D, E and F but you could very quickly and easily adapt.

AQA RE GCSE Religion, Peace and Conflict - Lesson 2 Reasons for war

This is the second lesson in the Religion, Peace and Conflict unit of the AQA RE GCSE themes paper. There are tasks and clips embedded into the PPT and a knowledge checker at the end for the students to assess their progress. I have included teachings from Christianity, Judaism and Buddhism, but it would be very easy to include other religions too if you are studying them.

Hajj Board Game - KS3 Islam

I adapted this from another resource to make it relevant to the work our Year 7's do on Hajj in the Islam Basics unit. They learn first and then play this a couple of times and needless to say they love it as a way of cementing their basic knowledge. You will need some counters and dice (I bought them very cheaply from a well known internet site!). If you need any more help or instructions I will be happy for forward them to you on purchase, but it is pretty self-explanatory (as long as you remember to go round the Kaaba at least once).

In this bundle I have included both parts of this unit: UQ1 How did the universe get here? UQ2 Why would a loving God allow suffering? The whole unit is designed to be challenging, yet the students really seem to enjoy the tasks, challenge etc. The lessons are guided by PPT with tasks, clips etc all included. There are 2 assessment booklets and a 9-1 markscheme too. Everything you need!

AQA RE GCSE Paper 1 - Judaism Practices Revision Booklet

This is a really useful revision booklet which can be completed by students either in class or as a homework and then kept for future revision. It summarises the whole of the unit and offers opportunities to 'customise' for their own use and understanding. I have tried to present it in a 'fun' and engaging way and my year 10's certainly found it useful and informative.

RE AQA GCSE Judaism Beliefs - Sanctity of Life

(0)
I have written this lesson to cover the issues relating to sanctity of life in the Judaism Practices unit. There is a PPT presentation for the first part of the lesson and then an information sheet and task sheet so that the students can do a piece of independent study to consolidate their understanding. Our college has double lessons but this could be spit into 2 singles if that suited better.

RE GCSE AQA Judaism Beliefs - L1 Intro and the Nature of God part 1

(0)
This is the first lesson in the Judaism Beliefs section of the course. It covers some basic information on Judaism as a world faith and then goes through the first parts of knowledge - G-d as the creator and G-d as one. I have included a key terms sheet, homework task (and the answers) as well and also a handout which i used for lower ability groups (or SEN students) who can't take as many notes as others. They can stick them in and annotate if you like. There is also stretch and challenge opportunities in here which may or may not be appropriate for your groups.

RE GCSE AQA Religion, Crime and Punishment - Lesson 1 Types and causes of crime

This is the first in a set of lessons written especially for Theme E - Religion, Crime and Punishment. There are discussions, tasks, activities, homework etc. all built into the PPT which leads the lesson. I have also included a glossary of terms and the medium term plan so you can see what is to come. I will be posting the rest of the lessons in the coming weeks. I have also made cards on Quizlet and there is a link to this on the relevant glossary slide.

RE GCSE AQA Spec A Mock Revision Quiz - Judaism and Christianity

Your revision worries are over! I have put together this quiz as a fun way of revising for Paper 1. It includes 6 rounds of different style questions with varying degrees of difficulty, so that all students will get some but even the more able will find some areas challenging. It also includes some cheesy quiz show music embedded and a musical interval (which you may want to replace - you'll see!) I have also put in a bonus opportunity, hence the bonus round cards. Don't worry it is all explained on the PPT as you go through. I have included an answer sheet for teams and of course the answers too. Obviously if you are not doing Christianity and Judaism you can change the questions that aren't relevant for your school / college. I use this for a lively way to revisit the key ideas and when giving the answers I get the students to make notes and talk through where the word / phrase / teaching is relevant and how they can use it in the exam.

RE GCSE AQA Christianity Beliefs : Crucifixion, Resurrection and Ascension

There is a huge amount of content here which I generally teach over 2 double lessons (the second one starting with slide 13). The PPT guides the learning with activities and information. I tend to play an extended clip from the Bible series (widely available) which gives the students a comprehensive idea of the crucifixion visually (you will need to warn them though because it is a little gory). I have included the gospel account in two different ways so that you have the choice about which resource will best suit your students. BTW - I used font ‘Grilled Cheese’ for this PPT but if you don’t have it the formatting will alter slightly, but can be very easily amended.

Buddhism - Lesson on Samsara, Karma and Nirvana

I have included a PPT presentation which leads through a whole double lesson (you could split this up into singles if you have them). There are tasks and 3 clear mini plenaries which demonstrate progress. I have also included a worksheet which can be useful especially for lower ability groups. The fish - tortoise task will ideally be laminated and this is a paired activity. I have also attached my lesson plan as this was an observed lesson so i happen to have one. (I got a very favourable feedback btw). Please ask if you have any questions.
