The Great Get Together is the UK’s annual celebration of everything that unites our communities, inspired by Jo Cox’s belief that we have more in common that that which divides us. This pack is designed to support schools with running a Great Get Together this summer. Whether you want to run a simple assembly on our More in Common theme or a larger event which brings the wider community together we hope you find this pack useful. It contains resources for all key stages, activity ideas to help students make connections and case studies from schools who have run Great Get Togethers in the past.

The Great Get Together is the Jo Cox Foundation’s annual celebration of what we have in common, bringing together communities and rejecting division. Inspired by Jo Cox MP’s message that ‘we have More in Common than that which divides us’ it aims to bring this message to life and celebrate what we have in common. The Great Winter Get Together is organised each year by the Jo Cox Foundation to shine a light on loneliness at a time of year when many people feel most alone. Schools can take part through organising a Great Winter Get Together of their own; holding an Assembly or lessons which highlight loneliness and the need for meaningful connection or running activities which support students with making these connections. The Jo Cox Foundation and the Naz Legacy Foundation have put this resource pack together to support schools with running a GWGT.
