Median – Micro Revision Unit GCSE Maths Foundation | Grade 3–4 | Neurodiverse Friendly
This micro revision unit is designed to support students working towards a Grade 3–4 at GCSE Maths Foundation level who need clear, calm and structured support with statistics.
The resource focuses on finding the median by first putting numbers in order and then identifying the middle value. It is particularly suitable for neurodiverse learners, intervention groups and students in alternative provision who benefit from reduced cognitive load and predictable layouts.
The unit avoids unnecessary language, visuals and distractions, allowing students to focus on one clear method at a time.
This unit includes:
a simple explanation of what the median is
a clear step-by-step method
a worked example
guided practice
independent check questions
a confidence check
The resource can be used flexibly:
in intervention sessions
in small groups or one-to-one support
for revision and consolidation
to build confidence before exams
The layout and language are intentionally calm and supportive, helping students to experience success and build confidence with statistics.
This unit works well alongside mean and range as part of a micro revision approach to GCSE Maths Foundation.
