Extracting Metals worksheet (DART)

(4)
The main ways of extracting metals are outlined, followed by a set of questions to which the answers can all be inferred from the text (if pupils are aware that people weren't able to generate electric currents until a couple of hundred years ago). Designed to make pupils think; might work well as an activity in pairs or larger groups. Covers smelting, electrolysis and thermite reactions, and relates appropriate methods of extraction to the metal's position in the reactivity series. Used with a class who had covered most of this material in previous lessons.

Organic Chemistry Flashcards

(0)
Defines most of the key concepts introduced in the Nature's Chemistry unit of CfE Higher Chemistry - the foundations of organic chemistry, from alcohols and esters through to proteins. We spent about half an hour with the students taking turns testing each other on the words, and they took them home as a revision aid for this unit.
