Completed with Year 6 as a piece of writing linked to their Science topic on Charles Darwin (Evolution & Inheritance unit). Year 6: New national curriculum: Maths- Measures- Converting between metric units of measure (not including converting to imperial), does also include an extension activity of looking at relative weights, lengths and capacities where conversion in needed first. Includes: Smart notebook, four-way differentiated work sheet with answers and test-question style application, photos of flip chart used for modelling with children, further extension task of SATs style questions and a help sheet for the calculation of each conversion. During the summer, whilst rehearsing for our end of year production, I felt a play script would be a suitable writing genre for this time. Year 5/6 Reading and Writing Unit- (could last around 2 weeks?). Using an anthology of Oscar Wilde stories (I only looked at 'The Happy Prince' and 'The Nightingale and the Rose'- but others can be incorporated and shared). Includes two Smart notebooks: one for reading tasks and one for the writing task. Includes a range of help sheets, photos of flip charts used with children, writing model shared with children, persuasive devices plan template (can be used with any persuasive unit), persuasive devices examples sheet with 'Happy Prince' examples and the purpose/function on the reader as well as a range of reading activities (in-line with the new NC) to use with the text. These are the revision packs for my Year 6 class, as we begin to revise for the SATs- including skills questions, but mostly test style questions/application. At the end of each week or PSHE lesson, circle time activities offer a range of talking points within a classroom setting to encourage pupils to share their ideas and develop their skills in listening to others. This smart board contains 25 different activities for you to use with your class.
