Music of the Week 2026–2027 Here it is – our brand new Music of the Week listening programme for 2026–2027! This year’s programme features 39 carefully selected pieces of music, introducing children to a wide range of composers, performers, musical styles and cultures from around the world. From Baroque masterpieces and Romantic concertos to jazz, opera, world music, film music and contemporary artists, there is something new to discover every week.

Music of the Week – Posters & Teacher Notes Alongside this year’s Music of the Week PowerPoint programme, I have also created 78 professionally designed posters—one for Key Stage 1 and one for Key Stage 2 for each of the 39 weeks—together with a full set of accompanying teacher notes. These resources are designed to be used as 15-minute high-quality listening sessions within music lessons, providing teachers with everything they need to deliver engaging and meaningful music appreciation. Each lesson includes: A structured 15-minute teaching sequence Age-appropriate background information Musical element linked to the National Curriculum Discussion and appraisal questions Assessment for Learning (AfL) questions Musical vocabulary Suggested follow-up listening and wider musical connections

As with my other resource, the PDF contains 38 slides of different artists and composers. This can be used as a classroom resource, for a weekly assembly focus or a whole school listening programme. On each slide you will find The name and picture of the artist or composer Some information about the artist and their work A embedded You Tube link to listen to the piece of music. Ideal for Listening and Appraising music and for children to explore about how they feel about different pieces of music.

This is a Key Stage 3 version of the Primary Listening and Appraising powerpoint. The text is pitched at a 12 year old level. There are the same 38 artisits and composers but with more information. Great for the start of lesson or for an assembly Each slide contains: The name of the artist The piece of music An embedded link to You Tube to the piece of music The bullet point about each piece of music 3 challenging Listening and Appraising questions on the piece A Musical Elements focus for discussion on each piece. This has been designed to give children a wide range of artists and composers, ranging from Bach to Beyonce

This Power Point, presented as a PDF, includes a set of 38 teaching slides that focus on a singer, artist or composer for each week. On each slide you will find: Artist Name Brief overview of the artist and their work 3 bullet points on each piece or artist A embedded You Tube link to each piece of music Ideal for Music Subject Leaders or class teachers who want a quick way outside of the model curriculum to extend children’s exposure to a range of music from across the ages.
