A four week scheme of work with four writing opportunities suitable for Upper Key Stage 2. The PowerPoints are based around the short animation ‘Adrift’ from The Literacy Shed website. The unit focuses on narrative writing, a poetry unit, creating a playscript and persuasive writing opportunities. Included with this resource are objective grids/tick sheets which link to national expectations. These will allow for easy teacher assessment of writing. This resource has been successfully delivered both in the classroom and virtually with pupils in Year 5 and Year 6. They have very much enjoyed the writing opportunities and produced some excellent outcomes.

This resource includes three objective sheets/grids which can be easily used to assess children’s writing. The three grids reflect the objectives required for a writer who is working towards the expected standard, working at the expected standard or exceeding the expected standard. These have been used with Year 5 to reflect national expectations, but could easily be adapted for Year 6 pupils.
