People who have changed the world.
This unit invites students to explore the lives and legacies of remarkable individuals who have shaped our world for the better. Through engaging stories, map work, comprehension activities, and discussion prompts, students will learn about the courage, creativity, and determination of historical and modern changemakers from diverse backgrounds. Each week focuses on a different person, highlighting their origins, key accomplishments, and the lasting impact they’ve made.
Using thinking routines such as See–Think–Wonder and I Used to Think… Now I Think…, learners will reflect deeply on the meaning of change and what it takes to stand up for a cause. The unit also incorporates cross-curricular activities—including math puzzles, geography skills, and writing tasks—to foster critical thinking and inspire students to consider how they, too, can make a difference in the world.
