2D Design Tutorial on Powerpoint. I use to use this for KS3 to explain the basics of 2D Design. By the end of the tutorial all pupils understood the basic shapes, fonts, arc’s and measurements without having to go to each pupil to explain individually. Very easy to understand with arrows on the display explaining what each symbol does and how to use it. Ideal for KS3 but maybe too easy for KS4. Good for all abilities as you can extend their learning by asking them to continue with each section or repeat while you help lower abilities. Section at the end to get the pupils to design their own shape using the techniques from the powerpoint. I have recently added to this resource to include how to change the background to isometric, how to create a cube in isometric and fill with colour and textures. There is a stretch and challenge section asking pupils to head to the-warren online. I do not own the right to the warrens work but I find it a massive help during my lessons for those who finish early.

There are 4 handouts included in the zip for high, middle and low ability. The fourth handout is a range of different trainers for the pupils to stencil to help them when designing. Each handout has a check list (success criteria), key words, peer assessment, and a section under the design to explain their design idea. Each handout has an outline of a trainer to help the lower ability pupils apart from the higher ability handout. Ideal for design lessons and cover lessons.

The resource is centred around designing a mobile phone holder. The first page is the SCAMPER page which allows pupils to initially design a mobile phone holder in the top left corner and then pass the handout to another pupils to either Substitute– Combine– Adapt –Modify– Put to another use– Eliminate– Reverse. This is a good activity to get the pupils to see how an initial design idea can change. The second sheet has the lesson objectives for the lesson, literacy intention, evaluation and key words. This end of year quiz covers electronics, resistant materials and food. The test is out of 100 and comes with the answers on the second half of the power point to easily mark with the pupils during the lesson. Comes in handy when you have finished a unit and you want to test the pupils knowledge.

This resource consists of a booklet and Power Points covering all topics related to AQA Design and Technology Specification for New and Emerging Technologies (3.1.1). The booklet has been split into pupil friendly questions, tasks and exam question opportunities, with extension questions to push the higher ability. The Power Point comes as part 1 and part 2, and has links to videos etc and it also has the tasks in order of the booklet for ease for both you and the pupils. I have put the Power Point and booklet together from resources I have found on Tes, my own resources and those I have accumulated over my years of teaching. Hopefully this will help you. They include peer and self assessment, exit slips, even better if handouts etc. Very good with both KS3 and KS4. I printed them all in different colours and put them next to my desk as an extension task if pupils had completed early just incase. My technician made me a wooden tray to contain them all.

This resource is a revision resource for the new AQA design and technology specification. The resource is a revision clock with all sub headings the pupils need to know and understand. This would help for revision. There is also an example of how the resource should look when completed but the example is a Geography example as I found my pupils would just copy if they saw the exact information needed. Thanks

I use these for all of my technology classes, Textiles, RM etc. They come in handy if you need to tidy up quickly using the help of the pupils instead of doing it all yourself at the end of the lesson!
