Our Day Out by Willy Russell - Introductory Context Lesson

(0)
This is an introductory lesson to 'Our Day Out' by Willy Russell that focuses on the context of life in Liverpool in the 1970s. The lesson is very visual with lots of images, and goes through the brief history of Liverpool. Accompanying the lesson is a storyboard resource - the images from the lesson are already included, with a box for notes from the students. This is in both A4 and A3 formats. Designed for a lower set but could easily be used for a higher set by allocating more time in the lesson to the main activity and getting this done only in lesson time.

The resource contains a detailed lesson plan with differentiation, stretch and challenge, and literacy opportunities. On top of this is a full lesson on powerpoint, success criteria to give to each group, a printable copy of the scene to print and annotate, and a storyboard template for the following lesson or homework. This lesson is ideal for using if you have already read the previous scenes, and a prior lesson could include annotation of the scene. Alternatively, this could easily be tweaked to use as a standalone.
