A 20 slide assembly covering What misogyny is What misandry is What it looks like in the world (using Ofsted 2017 report and UKFeminista posters/findings) What it may look like in school Why we need to be aware of it; the consequences of not challenging The power of collective action Social media and misogyny (and the rise of grooming ignoranuses) What sexual harassment is What it doesn’t cover: how to engage young boys in caring about misogyny, and how to not further disenfranchise their fragile little hearts with ‘scary’ facts. Answers on a postcard (or in reviews!) as to how you tackle this in your school would be much appreciated. Also included are links to various YouTube videos. None of the materials created for YouTube are owned by me. I expect this assembly - delivered passionately/emphatically/appropriately - could take between 20 and 25 minutes, but there are definitely areas you could trim. I create resources like this for my school on a half-termly basis in my role as Inclusion and Diversity Lead. This lesson will build on the persuasive devices that students have previously been introduced to. The various activities lead up to the main arch of the lesson - planning and writing their own speech.

Full I am Malala scheme of work with all resources (slides, activities) included. The resource is very activity heavy, meaning that you have the option to select which resource you believe your students would benefit from best. This scheme has been adapted heavily from another author on here. Activities include: Factsheets Comparison questions A speaking and listening presentation Film reviews Speech analysis Newspaper article Poetry comparison All resources are included as Word documents with the exception of one or two Adobe files, meaning that you can adapt/scaffold. We taught this to our Y7 class as their first novel in Secondary school: they absolutely loved it. I would use this scheme for 12 weeks, 2 lessons per week.
