Simpsons distance-time graphs

(70)
Powerpoint with clear worked examples/solutions covering the basics of distance time graphs. Nice big fonts. I tried to get quite a bit onto a double-page worksheet to reduce photocopying. There's potential for quite a few extension type questions, or for higher ability letting them produce their own scales. Suggestions encouraged. Unfortunately the distances and times travelled aren't realistic!

World record Metric unit conversion

(15)
Using the Guinness Book of Records 2014 I've put a few questions together. Pupils guess at correct answer first. Then the correct answer is shown and the are asked to convert it. Will need a bit of tweaking depending on the group in terms of the conversion you&'d like them to do.

SPSS series of lessons

(0)
These lessons are designed to take two hours, instructing students how to use the statistical software package SPSS, including interpreting a test statistic using critical value tables. The teacher is expected to be able to explain alongside the presentation. Each lesson contains an illustrated explanation of how to complete the tasks, followed by a question for the students to complete- and subsequent illustrated solution. There are step-by-step instructions for performing the following using SPSS, including screenshots. How to produce Pie charts, scattergraphs (data entry) Bar charts and histograms (some ‘interesting’ histogram problems) Chi-square test of association and goodness of fit I have usually split the Chi-squared lesson into two, with some revision of previous skills. I can provide support for this resource and would act on any constructive feedback. I can also provide an example assessment and suggested mark scheme and solutions if there is any interest out there. In the zip file I have included all three/four lessons (PowerPoint presentations) and the SPSS files which I created to complete the questions.

Normal Distribution Probabilities

(0)
A selection of probability questions based on the normal distribution. There are questions which are for when X~N(0,1) and also when standardising is required. The questions include; greater than, less than and in between values. I have checked the answers using an online calculator, only one slight niggle is that the last digit of the 4 decimal places was out for one of the probabilities, this must have been a rounding error from the normal table I used (taken from Oakshott).

Simultaneous equations (elimination) with guidance

(3)
A worksheet I provided to pupils who might have struggled with the topic. The guidance is pitched for high ability GCSE students, it is also intended to help ensure answers are set out correctly. Covers- adding, subtracting, multiplying one, multiplying two. Answer sheet will be available sometime.

I spent a lot of time on the appearanceof this lesson, I'm sure you can tailor it to include more detailed maths. I have not expressed ranges as inequalities but you could probably alter that to suit the group. I installed the font available at http://cocland.com/miscellaneous/download-clash-of-clans-font
