A quick match-up task can really help solidify the knowledge that is so important to GCSE students studying history but it can be hard to do this task with the minimal effort for a busy teacher. Here is a resource to help you out! Not only does it have eight ‘Match Up’ tables laid out with some top options to revise GCSE Edexcel history topics (Medicine, Weimar/Nazi Germany and Elizabethan England) - BUT ALSO there is a blank table at the end for you to recreate any match-up table you wish for ANY year group! Panic no more - here comes an exciting new resource which brings together a wealth of knowledge about the key individuals from the Industrial Period of Medicine. Namely the third time period in the Edexcel Medicine in Britain course (c.1700-c.1900) This wonderful resource can be used as a starting point, a homework or revision. It combines the two most important aspects of GCSE history; knowledge and analysis. As they read the letters the students will both gain knowledge on the changes and impacts these individuals had upon 18th and 19th century medicine. But, they will also engage in the debate as to who has had the biggest impact, what constitutes an impact, what makes a medical individual the most important. All good skills of analysis and debate that can help with those tricky 16 mark questions! Each couplet of letters are followed by ready to answer questions AND a series of bigger questions at the end. This is a ready to use resource! Another fantastic series of letters to help your students delve into the Medicine in Britain module. These letters focus in on Renaissance medicine (c.1500-c.1700) - one of the trickiest periods to get a handle on with its mixture of continuity and change. The letters are written by new physician (and woman-in-disguise) Jenny Tarlestone as she moves to London and gets up to date with both the changes and continuity in medicine at this time. She spends time with Thomas Sydenham, attends the Royal Society and even battles the Great Plague. These letters are a fantastic resource to introduce students to a topic in a non-threatening and entertaining way filled with facts and knowledge. They also can function well as a revision tool - allowing students to refresh their memory - over the 2-year GCSE course, it is amazing what gets forgotten! The first part of a four part series using contemporary letters to probe into the different aspects of Medicine in Britian in four different time periods. Frequent pauses with pre-written questions make this a resource that is ready to go for immediate use with no editing required! These easy-to-read, humourous letters have a dual purpose. They can help your students learn (or revise) the ideas around illness, treatments and prevention methods in the medieval period. They also provide a good resource to improve and encourage literacy - always a helpful bonus! The multiple letters between a stressed parish priest and his archbishop uncle come from the mid 14th century and cover a wealth of key aspects from the first time period in the Edexcel GCSE course; Medicine in Britain. There are four different sets of questions sprinkled through the letters allowing you to print this resource and hand it out ready to go. A fun, engaging way for students to learn and gather information about the effects of gas attacks on the Western Front during WW1. A key part of the Historic Environment module of the Edexcel Medicine in Britain course. Presented as a series of telegrams between a Brigadier and Captain discussing the new chemical warfare of WW1. This worksheet can be used in class, as revision or as a homework and combines the information with questions for the students to work on. It is literally ready to print and pass out! It is presented as a series of telegrams with each telegram couplet covering one of the gases and the context they were introduced in (including information on gas masks and several key dates).
