Science Week Play Script Class Assembly What Makes a Good Scientist?

(1)
A script I have written for our class assembly on the Friday prior to science week. Entitled ‘What Makes a Good Scientist?’ this comedic play introduces the key features of good scientists, highlights that we are all naturally scientists and gives examples of famous male, female, and multi-cultural scientists from history in an informative but silly way.

Essential for any Reading lead preparing for Deep Dive and wanting to ensure a quality-first curriculum. Every text for Years 3 to 6 whole class reading sessions for every week in Term 4 mapped to carefully sequenced progression of skills that cover and go beyond the national curriculum. Each week has a theme that links the texts and threads through elements of our schools curriculum; this could of course be adapted for your own setting. These include class novels, texts linked to the wider curriculum, notable people, values, classics, modern novels, famous authors and more. Most texts can be sourced for free viabthe si tree in the docuement however others you would need to pay for yourself via a Twinkl or Literacy Shed Comprhension Plus subscription. Some helpful links will take you to shared Google Drive presentations from which you may wish to snip questions and ideas for your own planning. Our own planning typically follows a sequence that focuses on prosody and oracy for two days a week when texts are introduced then VIPERS core skills and other usually written/recorded responses on two days a week. One day a week is for guided or independent comprehension practice. Planning linked to these overviews should be made available soon.

Narrative Science Fiction English 2-Week Unit SPaG Writing Reading

(0)
A two week unit on Science Fiction that can be better extended to three weeks with extra time given to oral reciting of the learnt text. All planning is embedded into the PPT so you can work straight from it! Aimed at Years 5 and 6 but could be used with lower secondary or Year 4. Includes Grammar and Punctuation objectives embedded into Writing sessions and Reading. We used an abridged version of The Time Machine by H.G. Wells as well as Timesnatch by Robert Swindells as examples. Also references Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and modern Sci-Fi in films, TV and books.
