Here is my power point trying to structure questions for C2 from past papers. I have split the paper into 9 sections and tried to group questions together. All solutions are given at a click. For use by giving to pupils and leaving them to it, or working through topics as a class. Every question from 2006-2018. Also works extremely well on iPads.

Conditional Probability (visual method)

(28)
This is my powerpoint introducing conditional probability using a visual method and fractions. The formula P(A∩B) = P(A|B) x P(B) is introduced through this method and referred to, but not used as part of the calculations (the idea is for pupils to understand where this comes from). Starts off by basic filling in Venn diagrams and moving on to given that statements - some tricky questions within Venn diagrams and one tree diagram question. I would suggest breaking up the powerpoint with questions at various stages.

Here are my PowerPoints trying to structure questions for the new A-level syllabus from past papers. I have created 3 presentations for the pure, mechanics and statistics elements of the course. For use by giving to pupils and leaving them to it, or working through topics as a class. I have included Practice, specimen and sample assessment material to support the limited amount of new papers. I have also attached older questions from the old specification for more edexcel exam style question practice (although these are more limited in their approproiateness - especially on applied topics). If you like it, please share and give 5* :). Also works extremely well on iPads.

Ordering decimals

(45)
Here is a power point I use to teach ordering and place value for decimals. The starter sheet is linked to the power point. I print out these and give each sheet to a person in the class. Then I ask them to order themselves - there are 5 questions here with the first being ordering words - the remaining 4 I do after completing the powerpoint.

Congruent triangles Matching activity

A worksheet on powerpoint with answers on the following slide. Match up the congruent triangles, leaving ones which are not. For each match give a reason (eg.SSS). I have included some misconceptions to catch some out and also give possible class discussion points, (and edited the mistake mentioned in the comments)

Here is my adaptation of a powerpoint activity I saw last year on TES. I have changed it to make it non subject specific and feel it could be used in any lesson for any topic as a fun way of checking answers or understanding. Any problems with operation feel free to ask.

The Quadratic Formula - spot the mistake

(10)
A short activity to ensure the class are typing the correct things into their calculator. The PowerPoint starts with a few model examples and then gives questions where mistakes have been made - wrong signs and brackets in the wrong place. Click the circle to find the error and then press right on keyboard to reveal solution. The final slide is correct - deliberately as they should be checking answers which are correct in the first place.

I have also attached older questions from the old specification for more edexcel exam style question practice (although these are more limited in their appropriateness - and I have not yet taught everything so some may not be - please use your own judgement). Find all lost rings by following the instructions provided and use their knowledge of constructions and loci. I have attached the video to the second slide and the music to play from the third slide onwards (I own no rights to these). I photocopy 3 maps (one per race) on A3 paper for each student to attempt (make sure you print in equal aspect and landscape - a bit at the bottom of the map was cut off for me), and ask them to stick in each map alongside the instructions (printed off on A5 direct from PPT) - so there will be one map for each set of clues.

Interactive number line

(6)
A basic number line. I have used it with year 7 to 6th form to illustrate points, but am sure it could be used earlier on too. You can zoom in and out as well as moving up and down. I have used it with an interactive whiteboard to teach negative numbers, inequalities, ordering decimals, fractions etc for lower years, but also trial and improvement for GCSE. To modify number increments go to edit axes and change the spacing as you require in the x axis. Thanks to Mr Barton for his tutorial video on making this resource. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_pwLlTcbms
