Converting Fractions, Decimals and Percentages

(0)
I planned this lesson for a high ability Year 7 class. Includes a full lesson plan (ideal for trainee teachers). Includes conversion tables for students to fill in, lots of practise questions and a game of bingo. Also includes some questions where students have to fill in the missing fraction for questions such as 0.42 + ? = 1.

This full lesson teaches how to use tree diagrams to calculate probabilities of independent events with lots of examples and practise. The resource includes: A revision starter on fractions (which is a pre-requisite skill for this lesson) Full Powerpoint presentation with animations to show how to draw tree diagrams correctly, an extension task involving 3 events, and a challenging plenary related to the topic Worksheet with 6 questions and illustrations (also includes questions where the probabilities are different on the second branches.

Simultaneous Equations Full set of Lessons

(0)
Full set of lessons on simultaneous equations with all appropriate resources, including differentiated worksheets and an assessment to assess students’ progress in the topic. There are 2 alternative sets of lessons in this pack with a little overlap. The first set is suitable for a class that has never seen simultaneous equations before. The second set I used with a top set GCSE class who can move a lot quicker. The format of the lessons go as follows… 1 - Introduction to Simultaneous Equations with Pictures 2 - Simultaneous Equations (No Multiplying, Only Subtracting) 3 - Simultaneous Equations (Multiplying of One Equation, Only Subtracting) 4 - Simultaneous Equations (Multiplying Both Equations, Only Subtracting) 5 - Simultaneous Equations (Multiplying Mixed, Subtracting and Adding) 6 - Simultaneous Equations (Worded Problems) 7 - Simultaneous Equations (Consolidation) 8 - Simultaneous Equations (Assessment) Alternative: 9 - Solving Simultaneous Equations (By Elimination and By Substitution) 10 - Solving Simultaneous Equations (Graphically) and Deriving Equations 11 - Solving Simultaneous Equations (Where One Equation is Quadratic) There is the odd worksheet that I have previously downloaded (free) from here but I can’t remember where from to give the credit, apologies!! Enjoy

Introduction to Sequences - Set of 3 Lessons

(0)
A set of 3 lessons to introduce sequences to low ability classes. The first lesson gets students generating terms from a rule with a worksheet, finding missing terms and finding a term-to-term rule. The second lesson gets students looking at generating terms when given the nth term (or position-to-term) rule, as well as finding a given term in the sequence. The third lesson slowly introduces finding the nth term rule of a sequence. This lesson is a little different as it includes lots of short timed examples with similar practise questions, and the main task involves asking students what they predict the answer is going to be (based on what they already know and the previous examples), before working out the answer.

Investigating Angles in Polygons

(0)
Full lesson which investigates interior and exterior angles in polygons with the aim of the students generalising what they have found to any n-gon. The lesson begins with a quick recap on angles before taking students though the necessary steps of the investigation. The plenary tasks give students the chance to practise using the formulae they have found for shapes of n sides. The resource comes with a table for students to fill in as they go, as well as a sheet of instructions which you could give to extend some learners.

Rationalising the Denominator Dominoes Puzzle

(0)
Dominoes game that I created for an interview lesson on rationalising the denominator. The questions get progressively more difficult as the game goes on, and the resource is also fully editable. I had these printed and cut out on coloured card (as in the photo) and the questions are in order so reading down each column in order gives you the answer set.
