KS3 Drama SOW - Dramatising History

(0)
This SOW is a half-term worth of lessons (1 per fortnight - 4 lessons total) for KS3 aimed at Year 7. This scheme of work uses cross-curricular knowledge of historical figures to support students exploration of devising skills, and introduction to rehearsal techniques such as hot-seating. Each lesson focuses on a different historical figure as a stimulus, provides videos to support new knowledge on the figure, and has formative assessment opportunities to test this knowledge prior to a devising task and peer assessment. The devising tasks have success criterias, scaffolded ideas and challenge, with peer assessment also being scaffolded to support students and their response to performance. At the end of the scheme, students research their own historical figure (this is set as homework in this scheme, but can be adapted as an additional research lesson if needed) and student’s take part in a ‘time-traveller’s tea party’ devising task. Lesson 1 - Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot Lesson 2 - Emmeline Pankhurst Lesson 3 - Henry VIII and his Six Wives (highly requested by students!) Lesson 4 - Time Traveller’s Tea Party (includes hot-seating task prior to devising task) My Year 7 students have thoroughly enjoyed this scheme of work, and so I hope that your students do too!
