UK Geography End of Unit Assessment

An accessible multiple choice quiz to assess Key Stage One pupils on the United Kingdom. This can be completed with whiteboards and pens where the children can show you their answers and you can get a quick insight into their understanding. The questions focus on key characteristics of the four countries of the UK but these can be adapted to suit the content that you have taught. As well as the PowerPoint containing the quiz, a worksheet has also been included so that the pupils can write and draw about a key place or landmark. This can be used as another assessment tool.

KS1 Maths KPI Assessment Set with Suggested Activities

(0)
Full KPI lists of fundamentals in maths at the start and end of the year. Suggested activities to support teachers and TAs in completing these assessments. These support teachers to quickly identify gaps in learning and give specific intervention targets for pupils. This is an assessment system that I created for my school 3 years ago for KS1 and it has made a huge difference to our interventions. The editable objectives selected for assessment are fundamental maths skills that the children need in order to show that they are on track with maths. These can be used in conjunction with other assessment methods such as end-of-unit tests. For each year group, there is a set of KPIs that the children can be assessed with at the start of the academic year to highlight any weaker areas from the previous academic year. By spotting these areas quickly, we have been able to create quick interventions and help pupils to make progress and be ready for the new academic year. Each year group also has a list of KPIs for children to try to achieve in the last part of the academic year.

A geography activity with an aerial photograph of the Indian village, Chembakolli. The photo has 3 blank boxes for the pupils to fill in with the physical and human features that they think belong there. This is a really useful activity for extending geographical fieldwork skills involving making observations and identifying physical and human features, where the pupils complete the white boxes by using the images that surround them.
