A Christmas Carol GCSE Revision Pack + Answers
Six two-page GCSE revision companions with a 21-page teacher answer booklet. Includes quotation analysis, model paragraphs and critical-thinking challenges, in editable Word and PDF. Suitable for homework, cover and independent revision; audio is optional and can be found on YouTube at Lit in Fifteen with Machelle.
Help students move beyond remembering the plot of A Christmas Carol towards explaining how Dickens develops ideas about isolation, generosity, redemption and social responsibility.
This Lit in Fifteen with Machelle revision pack provides six focused, two-page companions and a matching 21-page teacher answer booklet. Use one sheet at a time for homework or intervention, or work through the full sequence from Scrooge’s first appearance to the novella’s wider social message.
Each student companion includes a central question, four critical-thinking questions with writing space, eight quotation entries with voice and stave references, a complete model analytical paragraph, “What to notice” guidance, an “Ask your teacher” discussion question and a final synthesis challenge.
The teacher booklet mirrors the student tasks. It provides suggested answers to all 24 questions, commentary on all 48 quotation entries, guidance for unpacking each model paragraph, alternative interpretations, discussion routes, model final-challenge responses and flexible success criteria. Repeated quotations are revisited purposefully in the final synthesis episode.
Included in your download: six individual companions in Word and PDF; the same companions combined into a convenient 12-page Word pack and PDF; the teacher answer booklet in Word and PDF; and a Read Me with printing, classroom-use and licence guidance.
The six episodes on YouTube cover: Scrooge’s initial isolation; the Ghost of Christmas Past; the Ghost of Christmas Present; the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come; redemption in action; and Dickens’s wider message. Students practise close analysis, connections across staves and qualified judgements rather than relying on fixed symbolic meanings.
Designed for GCSE English Literature students who have already studied the novella. Suitable for revision homework, cover, small-group intervention and independent study. The pack can accompany Lit in Fifteen listening, but the novella, quotations and models support meaningful work without audio. Podcast recordings, slides and the full novella are not included.
PDFs preserve the print layout; Word files allow adaptation. The combined pack repeats the individual worksheets and is included for convenience. This is an independent resource, not an official examination-board mark scheme. Suggested answers are flexible, and other well-supported interpretations should be rewarded.
