Area Math Review Project - Great for End of year

(0)
Looking for a way to end your area and perimeter unit? Make area fun with real-world application! This completely differentiated Math PBL Area Project invites student “architects” to plan and design their Dream Backyard! Included is a Literacy Link which asks students to justify and communicate their critical thinking process. This is an awesome project for the end of the school year! With 3 levels of differentiation, students will remain engaged with a process that meets them at an appropriate level of challenge. This NO PREP “Print and Go” project requires a few extra materials: Glue Crayons/colored pencils Any appropriate math manipulatives Student “architects” are required to include a place for eating, cooking, and relaxing in their design. They will also be invited to choose at least one, but up to 3 other features such as: a pool, various sports areas, a fruit and vegetable garden, a petting zoo, and MORE! A planning page is included to help facilitate an organized planning process. The size and cost for each “feature” is listed so students can be sure that their choices fit well in the space. Can’t fit the basketball court AND the largest eating area? The architects might have to make some tough decisions! Finally, students will be asked to support their decision making in an article, communicating how and why they made the choices they did while planning their Dream Backyard. The Literacy Link is differentiated between your approaching and at/above grade level groups with multiple options for line spacing on the provided writing pages. Color and B&W options are included. Thanks for reading and happy teaching! :)
