B Psychology 2027 Concept-Based Learning Framework / Worksheet | NEURO NEURO – Think Beyond the Obvious is a five-stage, concept-based learning framework designed to support students studying the IB Psychology curriculum for first assessment 2027. Rather than simply recording psychological theories and studies, NEURO guides students through a consistent process of questioning, exploring evidence, developing understanding, challenging ideas and producing reasoned conclusions. The framework follows five stages: N — NOTICE Students identify what they notice, question or need to investigate within a psychological topic and recognise the IB concepts that provide useful lenses for thinking. E — EXPLORE Students explore the research, studies and evidence that can help answer their questions and develop their understanding. U — UNDERSTAND Students explain what the evidence tells us, make connections between psychological ideas and build a secure understanding of the topic. R — REFRAME Students challenge their initial thinking by considering limitations, alternative explanations, different perspectives and conceptual issues. O — OUTPUT Students transform their thinking into something meaningful: a judgement, explanation, discussion, evaluation, application or assessment response. The framework integrates the six IB Psychology concepts — bias, causality, change, measurement, perspective and responsibility — so that conceptual thinking is embedded throughout learning rather than treated as a separate evaluation exercise. What is the worksheet for? The NEURO worksheet can be used throughout a unit as a student thinking and note-taking structure, or at the end of a topic as a revision and consolidation tool. It encourages students to move beyond memorising theories and studies towards asking: What does the evidence show? Why does it matter? What can we question? What other perspective could we take? What can we ultimately conclude? This makes NEURO particularly useful for developing the deeper conceptual, critical-thinking and evaluative skills required in the new IB Psychology course.
