Introduces UKS2 children to the concept of theology using a religion and worldviews (and multi-disciplinary approach) to teaching RE using the story Jesus blesses the little children. The lesson plan contains key knowledge (substantive and disciplinary), vocabulary, learning objectives as well as a starter, main and plenary. The lesson introduces the concept of theology using key disciplinary knowledge such as etymology, thinking about context, different meanings as well as various beliefs and actions that Christians might learn from this story today. There is a clear focus on the context of the time when Jesus was around and what this means, how his teachings might have challenged social norms.
