This lesson is designed to teach pupils about the traditions of Victorian Christmas, where they came from and comparing with modern traditions. The pack includes the PowerPoint, which is professionally made, it has key words, objectives and definitions, it also has metacognition with the embedded design of thinking frames. It has two source packs which are used. This lesson has a nice cross curricular link with English as we explore the Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.

This pack can be given to A-level pupils for revision of the three plays studied in Classical Civilisation A-level. They contextualise the playwrights, plays, and themes. These are a useful revision tool for helping pupils review or pre-learn content.

This is a 60 page guide based on the OCR Classical Greek 9-1 Literature and Culture paper. This focuses on Women in Ancient Greece and Athenian Society. This resource was produced by a Head of Department teaching Classical Greek at GCSE. The guide is comprehensive with review tables and summaries. This is an active resource which is being used by high achieving pupils to direct self-study and class discussion for the Culture unit. This is exceptionally helpful if you are in a time sensitive position and teaching Greek as part of a reduced timetable.

This pack includes revision materials for the set texts in Classical Greek GCSE, there are four podcasts generated from revision materials about each part of the texts. They include commentaries on the literary and historical content. This is great for revision and my class have found them helpful. Attached are also four separate revision files which are useful for breaking down timelines, characters, and glossaries for the set texts.

This was designed by a Head of House to create a Form time activity for Tutors to engage with their Form. We planned to have a designated performance space for multiple Forms to watch the same sketch. This could be used across year groups or something to do with Year 7 or 8s. There are scaffolded activities here. At the very least it will be something enjoyable for a tutor looking for a short Christmas activity. This is a fully comprehensive guide to Roman City Life for OCR GCSE Classical Civilisation. In each of the knowledge organisers there is a “Stage in a Page”. Covering all of the required AO1 with additional AO2 support. This includes both the culture and literature. The literature has themes and summaries to support pupil progress and understanding. This is produced by a Head of Classics and valued by pupils who have used this for revision.

This is a 56 page revision guide for the Roman Family Life Component for Eduqas Latin GCSE component 3B. Inside each source is broken down into key components and significance. It also includes key themes broken down into a table and a glossary of terms. This will help anyone who is teaching on a restricted time and would like their class to be able to pre-read and understand the sources for discussion in class. This will also help anyone who is teaching this for the first time and would like some clarity on the sources. This could be broken down and used for PowerPoints etc. Produced by a current Head of Classics for a GCSE Latin class.

This resource is designed for a Year 7 class exploring the Great Fire of London. The lesson plan is for pupils to discuss their previous knowledge on the source sound bites at the beginning of the slide to know what they are about to be exploring. Print the evidence slides off (on A3) and bluetac them around the building you are in. Print the evidence sheet and send pupils in small groups to record what happened at the Great Fire of London based on the suspect sheets. This resource provides a great physical and engaging lesson for pupils to explore real sources and have a sense of enquiry. Pupil then come back together as a class and collate evidence. Pupils can then use the task plan to help guide them as they write a report or should you wish produce a news video about what happened. This is a great fun lesson I have used with Year 6 to investigate the death of Thomas Becket. The best way to do this is to find a willing volunteer and use some masking tape to make the imprint of a body on the floor of your classroom or somewhere in the building. Print the suspect sheet and place these around the building or classroom. When the pupils come in, set the scene for a crime scene investigation. Give the pupils their evidence sheet and send them in pairs to find out information about who was to blame. You can send them in pairs and do a map from memory exercise if you wish. When the pupils come back in share ideas about who is guilty or to blame. Maybe there are different answers here… Give the pupils the summary sheet and get the pupils to prepare their own CSI video report, or if you do not have devices, pupils can produce a crime report. Included is 3 slides on Juvenal and context 8 slides based on line referenced defining frames with impressions from our word- phrase- sentence 1 sequencing slide showing key AO1 events 1 categorising slide showing the pros and cons of the Town and Country 1 peeling back the fruit thinking routine of the story. My current cohort has found this exceptionally useful in having all of the information available on one page with the right level of detail to help support answering 8 and 15 markers.
