Britpop Music Student Booklet

(0)
This Britpop Music Project introduces students to the musical features and context of Britpop while developing their practical performance skills through the study of Wonderwall by Oasis. Students explore key features of Britpop before working towards performing the song using a range of instruments. The booklet supports students in learning the chord progression on ukulele and keyboard, performing a basic drum kit pattern, and developing confidence in singing the vocal melody. The project provides a clear structure for practical music lessons and is suitable for mixed-ability groups, allowing students to contribute to an ensemble through different instruments and performance roles. The booklet also includes links to assessment criteria based on the Music Mark assessment framework (www.musicmark.org.uk/resources/assessment-in-key-stage-3-music/), helping teachers assess students’ practical progress and musical development throughout the project. A range of worksheets is included to support students in exploring the history, context and musical features of Britpop. These activities are accessible to non-specialist teachers, making the booklet particularly useful for cover lessons or occasions when practical music-making may not be possible. Ideal for KS3 Music, this resource combines musical knowledge, instrumental skills, ensemble performance and written activities within an accessible and engaging popular music project.
