Booklet to be given to students in mixed ability classes (foundation and higher) so they can prepare answers on each of the 3 themes and 9 sub-topics. For each topic there is a number of broad questions, which the students can expect to be asked during their conversation, followed by follow up questions. There are also questions marked with an asterix, designed for higher candidates to attempt higher structures. I have started using these sheets to mark students’ practise speaking on Theme 1 or for students to peer assess speaking. Once you have modelled marking a few times, they get the hang of the symbols. 1 sheet with 2 role plays assessment grids: I usually past prompts and scripts in the first column so students can keep track of where they may have gone wrong. 1 sheet for the reading aloud task criteria (Higher and Foundation) and the compulsory questions. 2 sheets (Higher and Foundation) for the description of photos and unprepared conversation. COuld easily be adapted to Spanish. They are based on the Specimen mark sheme issued by AQA but obviously also represent my interpretation of the criteria. This guide includes activities devised to revise key language to improve translation accuracy from the target language to English (section A) and English to the target langage (section B). It also includes tips on the tricky aspects of translation, such as translating infinitives and -ing forms of verbs, the passive voice, phrases which cannot be translated literally, or tricky phases such as ‘acabo de’, ‘al llegar’, etc… It includes a worksheet and an answer sheet.

I have created this pack to build up vocabulary, apply adjective agreement and practice translation and writing on describing family, friends and self. It also includes basic relationships descriptions. It is designed so students can work their way through the pack independently, but could be used in class or as flipped learning with formative assessment in class. The Zig Zag Guide has excellent introductory activities but I have also used the excellent pre-reading lessons by Julie Barcelona published on TES. They were developed for use in class but could easily be used for independent study or revision. The lessons include a variety of activities designed to deepen the knowledge of the book in order to succeed in essay writing. Each mention and quote has a page number reference based on the 2010 edition ISBN 978-2-253-11375-1. All answers are provided. A PowerPoint introducing the French mardi-gras tradition. There is a flipped learning activity based on a You Tube video by Mr Innes, to prepare students to basic vocabulary. The PowerPoint is to be used in class, it has a number of group based activities to develop vocabulary, and comprehension with a final differentiated productive activity. I have created for a mixed ability year 8 class. Could be suitable for year 7, with a little vocabulary support.

A worksheet aimed at GCSE higher students or A-level students, explaining when and how to use the perfect tense with a series of exercises scaffolded to help memorising set sentences in the plu-perfect to enhance answers in speaking and writing, and culminating in a translation exercise, demonstrating how to fit plu-perfect sentences in an answer. I created this PP to introduce French speaking countries for the ‘Journée de la Francophonie’. It covers the verb to go, sentences in the near future, and sentences in the past, all linked to French speaking countries. It also links to a quizlet set, and some resources from Teachit Languages resources (free PDFs for non-members).
