Each slide of the powerpoint is a review of one of the 10 required practicals on the new AQA GCSE Biology spec (8461). This is designed for year 11 revision period to recap the key points including scientific skills, or as a review once each practical has been completed to consolidate knowledge. I choose to show a video from Youtube then the class complete each sheet, maybe 3/4 in a lesson depending on the class. Any reviews/feedback would be appreciated!

Lesson designed to meet spec criteria for aerobic respiration and exercise. The first practical can be done as a demo with breathing on to a mirror and using copper cobalt paper to identify water, and blowing bubbles in to limewater to identufy carbon dioxide as the products of respiration. You will also need access to some stop watches for the jumping jack practical with heart rate. All resources included and designed to teach years 9-11.

Lesson covering specification reference 4.1.1.3-4.1.1.4 - specialised cells and cell differentiation. For years 9-11. All resources for lesson included, as well as an exam question for homework.

A whole lesson designed to meet spec reference 4.1.1.2 on animal and plant cells. Used for years 9-11. Hold the leaflet template landscape and fold the edges in to the centre. Students cut along the lines to create flaps. They write the name of the organelle on the top of the flap and the information they need underneath the flap. They can then use it for revision. Lesson requires use of microscopes.

A lesson on stem cells to meet spec reference 4.1.2.3 For years 9-11 All resources included. Information regarding stem cells to be cut up and students work in threes where one person reseaches one type of stem cell. They can then teach each other to fill in the gaps.
