Advent/Christmas/ light/ Hanukkah/Diwali

VERY successful assembly on the theme of candles with focus on advent mentioning Hanukkah and Divali. Many children came to thank me at the end. I made a very basic advent wreath using battery tea lights and a hoop of ivy with holly while explaining the first part which captured their attention. I usually have Christmas carols playing when they walk in. Good for SMSC. takes about 20 minutes but you can play around with the music video to make it longer or shorter

Full lesson useful for specialist and non specialist teachers of Citizenship with starter, plenary and homework. Looking at jury duty, magistrates and Special Constables. Lesson centers around questions and discussions set around 4 short video clips. preparing pupils do do a case study for homework. Text book not needed but does support the lesson if you have one. I have used it successfully with both KS3 & 4 though the outcomes have been different.
