Hi all This may or may not be useful to others but I have taken an old document called A level extended response questions (many thanks to the original author for compiling) from the old spec's and reformatted for the new specification AS. I have put each question and mark scheme on a separate slide of a PPT and grouped the questions into key topics based upon the Nelson Thornes AQA textbook I have laminated these as a resource for students revision, but they could also just be used to print them 2 slides to a page. If you then fold over you can have the question on the front and mark scheme on the back, or simply projected or sent out to students. They may be old spec but it's useful practice regardless. It covers appearance, state, boiling/melting points, uses and reactivity, reaction with group 1 metals and displacement reactions, and word equations and symbol equations (could easily be adapted for balanced symbol equations as well). Covers all OCR specification requirements and a practical for flame tests and teh group 1 metals demo are included. Suitable for low and middle ability classes. I usually print as an A3 for students to work through. Includes a mark scheme as well in the PPT. Some slides taken from other TES PPTs as part of support materials. Hope its useful for someone. It covers location on the periodic table, properties, reactivity, colour of compounds, uses, thermal decomposition word equations (could easily be adapted for balanced symbol equations as well) all the way up to reactions with sodium hydroxide completion of symbol equations. Covers all OCR specification requirements and a practical stations could easily be used for some of the tasks. Suitable for low and middle ability classes.
