**A fun and though-provoking activity for Music Ks3 or GCSE students. ** In small groups, the students have 10 minutes to plan their own Jukebox musical using only the songs listed on the cards. After 10 minutes, they must pitch their idea to a West End Theatre Director (ie you!) for potential commissioning. As well as using their imagination to think of an entertaining (family-friendly) storyline, the students need to consider how the song’s hook or lyrics will contribute to the musical’s storyline / tempo and mood of the song / which songs work best as opener and finale / which voice or voices are performing the song and how that fits with the characters in their story.

This scheme of work is for any KS3 class beginning to use Logic Pro, although the tasks would apply equally to Garageband. Week by week, the scheme takes the students through the levels of progression from ‘Bedroom Startup’ to ‘Superstar Producer’ giving them essential skills and tips for using Logic effectively. Alongside written descriptions, screenshots of the relevant processes are also provided.

Samba Planning Sheet A worksheet for students to plan their own group samba performance before they head onto the drums. This could be set as a cover lesson with a non-specialist teacher, or used in a normal music lesson. Would suit KS3 or KS4.
