Students are given a vocabulary sheet and a template for their own descriptive writing. Unit Three covers poetic language, art and story-telling. The prezi gives students an example of a simile poem and then breaks the steps down into discussion prompts to scaffold students’ own creations of a simile poem. To aid students as they paint their dragon with words, the prezi also demonstrates in steps how to draw a dragon - and in more detail, how to draw a dragon’s eye. Finally, students are encouraged to start their story and are given a template for writing about their first meeting with the dragon. The bonus unit contains videos demonstrating instructional language and a clip from the animated ‘How to train your dragon.’ There are further Google docs to support students’ writing in this final bonus unit.
