4 Day Maths Plan and Smartboard for a fun Year 5/6 Bonfire Night investigation.

This resource is a 4 day plan that involves children planning and budgeting for their own Firework display. You can do it as a lead up to Bonfire night or do it afterwards, getting children to think about next year. It first looks at some problem solving using Battersea Fireworks as an example. It works best to have mixed ability groups of 3-6 children (a computer/tablet per group is very useful) and encompasses lots of different maths number, calculation and problem solving skills as well as highlighting the use of ICT and presentation skills. There are options throughout the task to make it more challenging by having last minute sales etc depending on how each group is working. This was used as a series of lessons in an overseas inspection lesson last year but can be easily adapted to use UK or any other country (just change links to local ones i.e. use .co.uk instead of .gr and change euros to pounds etc). It works particularly well if you have completed any spreadsheet work previously as they can use known formulae to lighten their workload.

Primary Spanish Flipchart, resources and 5 x 45 mins Plan

An easy to use Spanish resource for any KS2 class. Can be used by a subject specialist or by a confident class teacher who wants to have a go. My unit plan meant we covered 'parts of the body and face' in Year 4 but it can easily be adapted to use throughout KS2 for beginner language learners . It ends with a whole class rap! It contains useful vocabulary in sequenced lessons. LOs: • To enthuse and inspire children about Spain and other speaking countries and to enjoy learning Spanish. • To learn the parts of the face in Spanish. • To learn the parts of the body in Spanish. • To express pain (what hurts).
