This is a unit of work I have developed to use with Key Stage 4 and 5 in a Special Needs School. It would suit Key Stage 3 in mainstream also. It contains lessons covering Alcohol Abuse, Smoking, Psychoactive Substances (Legal highs), Substance abuse and Effects on Famous people. It has discussion topics and literacy activities, also topical film clips to show students to support their understanding of certain topics. The learning objectives can be differentiated based on the ability of the students.

UNICEF - Young Person's Charter

This unit of work was created to introduce students to UNICEF and the Young Person's Charter. It picks out key children's rights and helps them explore what they mean. There is also a worksheet which can be made into a class charter, I had all the form classes make their own one to present.

This set of lessons is aimed at KS3/4 depending on the ability of your students. I have used this with Year 9-14 in the special needs school I work at and have just changed the content slightly to meet needs. There are sessions on diet, sugar content, different types of diet e.g. halal, vegan, and the last lesson looks at mental health. I have also included a tick sheet for assessment if needed.
