I have written these A* exemplar essays and colour-coded a few to identify skills required (embedding quotes, linking, devices, context). I have included non-colour-coded as well so you can code your own. I wrote these within the time constraints of an exam so just check quickly over in case of error. This is a unit of work I created which is so much fun and engages EVERY child in literacy tasks. The project is to design their own school. Learning: Every Writing Triplet Language of the Media 2 Spoken Language Tasks Familiarization with the Writing AFs Cross-Curricular with Maths, Design and Media It includes: -Full Scheme of Work -Activities for floor planning, employment, purchasing and marketing -Homework -Instructions and worksheets for ALL activities and homework -Marking requirements for activities IMPORTANT PRINTING INFO: 1. Floor plans need to be printed on A3 paper 2. Purchasing Booklet needs to be printed on both sides, flipped on the long edge so it creates the booklet form.

This PPT goes over ways to structure and write a GCSE essay with examples using An Inspector Calls. We look at: -What an essay is -What needs to be included -How to write an introduction with sample questions and example -How to write a conclusion with example -What to remember to do in the main body of the essay (with examples) -An essay checklist

I used the exemplar assessment materials for OCR GCSE English Literature and reformatted it into completely new, easy to read grids. There is a mark scheme for EVERY Literature question. I found the other ones far too difficult for pupils to stick in their books or decipher. I have reformatted them into AOs and 'bands/levels' My pupils stick one of the mark schemes in whenever they do an essay so I can underline where they are on the grid and work out their mark. Its been so helpful!

I have included mark schemes for Reading, Writing and Spoken Language for Years 7, 8 and 9. I have used the SIMs mark scheme of Emerging, Developing, Secure, Mastered

I have included: 1. An empty timeline (for pupils) - at the end of every chapter they have to summarise, in their own words, what happens. You can test them using this revision tool later in the year. 2. A completed timeline (for teachers and SEND pupils) 3. A revision 'who's who' game. Pupils are given a character from the text and, using the questions provided, they must ask each other questions to guess who each pupil is.

I have digitally annotated every poem in this cluster for Language, Structure, Tone and Meaning. I have also included relevant context at the end of each poem. I usually display each poem on the board so pupils can see comments rather than purely verbalising them and expecting pupils to write spoken comments down. Pupils have responded very well to this. Obviously, you wont want to teacher-lead everything though. This was created for OCR English Literature A-level. However, is quite generic. Each lesson includes: -Scene -Focus points or topics for discussion -student tasks -homework tasks -essay questions -many resources (although not all resources as some I took from other people and cannot publish as my own- hence the cheaper price of £3)

I have included: -Tasks for Act 1 & 2 -Character analysis sheets -A PPT on trivialising the war with tasks -A summary of events in bullet points. You can adapt this to make a fun game or started task.

These are the resources I use to run my Peer Mentor Scheme: -Peer Mentor Assessment (I use this multiple choice as part of the application process to be a peer mentor) -Peer Mentor Handbook (this is given to the new mentors) it has aims, rules, advice, what meetings should look like, a mentor agreement to sign and lots of ideas for fun games to play with mentees to start conversation flowing. I had to take out photos and names, obviously, but just add your own. -Meeting Logs -A confidentiality agreement for mentors and new mentees to sign. -An evaluation form for mentees to fill out after they have had a series of mentor sessions -a fun, colourful PPT slide for assembly to 'market' to the school -Anonymity Numbers (I usually laminate these and give them to the mentees so that I can call their numbers in assembly giving their mentor times that day but it keeps them anonymous)

This SOW has detailed focus points for each lesson and associated tasks. It's best for a teacher's first teaching of the text. I have included a few resources - they're easy to make and I took a lot of them from the net so I can't sell them (hence the reduced price of £3) Resources included: -A PPT on the importance of dreams -A PPT on religion and analysis of this theme regarding several characters -An empty summary timeline that pupils can fill after their reading of each chapter -A rap I created with my Year 12s to help them remember some very important quotes for the closed text element of the exam. A fun and compelling lesson teaching students how to skim read and take effective notes. Usually used a a literacy, PSHE or Learn to Learn lesson.

This includes a selection of around 10 Gatsby quotes and pictures carefully selected with a lovely font. Just a little time-saver for you as it took me a while to choose good, meaningful quotes put them all together. I used them to surround a poster that has the whole of Gatsby text on, however, I though a nice idea would be to take an extract of Gatsby and do some 'on board' colourful analysis pinpointing different critical approaches or something similar.

This is a fun ‘true or false’ starter game about Twelfth Night by Shakespeare. My Year 10s had a lot of fun with it.

This fun, colourful assembly focuses on Disney’s early life, struggles, multitude of achievements and a moral we learn from his life. NOTE I couldn’t find the script, unfortunately. Price has been reduced accordingly. All you need to is google the life of Walt Disney to understand the PPT slides.
