Used in lessons to support LA in creating a focused analysis, as well as to push the MA to create more in depth work with stronger connections between the ACCESS FMM areas. Example uses image of headphone stand, but can be changed to any product.

PowerPoint lead lesson on creating a detailed plan of manufacture. Lesson steadily builds on making a PoM, resources use example process for pewter casting, but can be edited to allow more independent and reflective learning to be shown if amended to reflect a known school project. Notes page looks at key elements and uses of a PoM. It also includes a section for students to apply learning and create their own plan for either their current project as draft or an assigned product.

A quick independent worksheet to introduce the topic of smart materials at GCSE level or for revision in Year 11. The sheet can be manipulated by staff by adding images of products yourself or have pupils compete own research. A helpful sheet to use alternatively as a cover lesson.

Given to pupils at the start of Year 9 and referred to in lessons/homework tasks.

Lesson introducing creating and using a plan of manufacture. The PowerPoint steadily introduces new factors of the plan to build the skill and show progress within the lesson. The resource is used to allow pupils to cut out and create their own PoM alongside the PPT. The current resource is set up for a project (pewter cast surf pendant) with pupils arranging comments into the correct order and then adding in decision points for quality assurance, but it can be easily amended to relate to a project completed by pupils previously.

Lesson PowerPoint looking at the impact of using plastics on the environment and the use of bio-plastics. Used after lesson on thermo/thermosetting plastics are introduced. Worksheet provided for pupils to use alongside the lesson to record notes on and then later refer to for revision.

A3 sheet created to support those in KS2/3 to begin to use 3rd party feedback when developing design concepts. Sheet guides student on crating a star chart before analysing feedback given to influence final design concept or modelling. Used to introduce technique used commonly as GCSE and A level

PROD3 "The Design Process" based question. I have found students often struggle to adapt to the PROD3 exam due to the difference in exam technique needed. Using a writing frame to guide student's on spacing out/layout and structuring their answer supports timing. This resource also uses an example answer that can be used as a reference or support for students or for students to better understand the mark scheme by marking the answer themselves so that they begin to write with the mark scheme in mind.

Worksheet to help introduce the concept of smart materials to students. Useful as an independent or flipped learning task to introduce the topic before covering in more detail in lessons, allowing for a more interactive lesson to take place without time constraints, or used as a revision tool/within lesson time to direct notes. If given to students electronically they can copy images of smart materials into task to help visually when revising.

Sheet used for pupils to make notes on the use of CAD/CAM and prototypes in design development. Given to pupils to complete as a homework and then discussed in more detail during model making for a project. Could be used as an introductory independent learning homework before looking the topics more closely together in class. Images used are my own work but could be easily swapped if wanted as the file is PowerPoint so easily manipulated to suit your cases needs should you wish.

Focused sheet directing notes to be made at GCSE, but useful at AS, to introduce the concept of technology push and market pull. Ideally used as independent task before covering the topic in class or as a revision task, or can be used within lesson to direct note taking. Includes case study of example products to apply learning.

I find students are generally knowledgeable but fail to gain vital marks in exams due to technique. Using this resource I have found their confidence has increased and they have developed a better technique through critiquing a weak answer, creating a guided plan and looking at the beginning of an example (3rd) answer and completing as a group - ultimately developing an understanding of where the examiner is looking for marks and reducing time spent. Should be completed as a group exploring the areas covered and sharing ideas.

Worksheet designed to be given to pupils to compete independently as either an introduction to the topic or as revision. Alternatively it could be used within TP/MP lesson or as an independent task for a cover lesson; with the aid of the internet and/or textbook. The sheet requires you to add two images of your choice to complete it - possibly products your class have some familiarity with, or provide to pupils electronically to choose and add their own products.

Used in DT lessons but adaptable for many subjects. The pages are arranged so they can be printed double-sided and folded as a booklet. The intention is that pupils can record their progress, but also make notes to support prompt/effective start in the following lesson. Very helpful in practical lessons to help improve efficiency and planning.

Double sided A3 worksheet to support with students making notes on the AQA topic "The Design Process" I have found getting students to develop good notes taking an exam technique the most difficult element for them to master at A2. Using notes such as this helps ensure students pick up the most important elements needed and support when revising and creating plans for exam answers.
