An extended project as an introduction to ethics, for which students create a TED talk on a moral issue of their choice at the end. I designed this for distance learning, but it can be easily used/adapted/added to for regular face-to-face lessons too. It includes an extensive 30-page workbook with clear instructions, activities and hyper-linked videos throughout, as well as a power-point (again created for an online lesson but adaptable) preparing students for the planning stage of the project, with a kahoot quiz embedded. Originally designed for year 9, but potentially useful for other year groups too. For students who are unable to attend school in person for an extended period of time particularly, but also in other contexts too, I hope this is useful.

A lesson exploring the three temptations of Jesus in the wilderness and why they are important for Christians, including a worksheet with clearly explained lesson activities and a power-point presentation to clarify some activities and stimulate further class discussions.

Power-point slide with full lesson on the concept of nirvana in Buddhism, including a hyper-linked video and explanations of lesson activities on each slide or in the notes section under some slides. The aim is to help students to understand the concept fully, including how and why it is impossible to describe in ordinary language, how it is the final escape from all suffering and how it transcends existence and non-existence. Probably best delivered later on in a scheme of work, as some prior knowledge and understanding will be needed (e.g. 8 fold path, 3 poisons, enlightenment).

Power-point covering all of Descartes Meditations, including including lesson activities, discussion questions, content and direct references from the text. Also covers Descartes life and background, with detailed information in the handouts attached too.

A full lesson on Wittgenstein’s response to the problem of solipsism, including ppt slides and worksheet. This lesson assumes some prior knowledge, including of Descartes’ cogito (I think therefore I am) and how it leads to solipsism, and it would probably fit better later on into a course rather than as one of the first lessons. This lesson was made for Philosophy IB Philosophy of Religion, but could also be applied to A-Level Religious Studies or A-Level Philosophy.

Power-point introducing arguments for the existence of God, separated into 4 categories (rationalism - ontological, empiricism - cosmological, design, religious experience, pragmatism - William James, fideism - Kierkegaard). This powerpoint contains information that can be discussed and unpacked (probably not copied down), as well as some lesson activities, embedded videos and possible essay questions. How you choose to use this is entirely flexible, and it should last for a good few lessons.
