**Useful resources for teachers of Science, Maths and English ** North East Health and Life Sciences Sector Careers Toolkit Health and life sciences is a sector of strategic importance to the North East economy, presenting an opportunity to drive economic growth and deliver more and better jobs. Building upon our exceptional health and life science assets, and strengths in pharmaceutical manufacturing, the North East Local Enterprise Partnership have outlined an ambition to double the number of jobs and businesses within the sector by 2030. In 2022 the North East LEP conducted research in partnership with pharmaceutical manufacturing and life sciences employers across the region, to identify the skills and roles in most demand by employers, and mapped different careers pathways into these key roles. This toolkit aims to support secondary school teachers to link careers in the North East health and life sciences sector to the Maths, English, and Science KS3 and KS4 curriculum. **Labour Market Information Resources ** The North East has a diverse economy and our region is well recognised as a high quality place to live, learn invest and do business. This toolkit is about helping to provide Labour Market Information or Labour Market Intelligence from the earliest possible age so we can help children and to understand the types of jobs available and how they are changing over time. The North East LEP recognises that our economy is constantly changing. Nevertheless, there are 4 important areas where we can build a stronger North East Economy for the future - These are Digital, Advanced Manufacturing, Health and Life Sciences and Energy. The resources we have created involve primary-aged children demonstrating employers and employees within these sectors in subject areas we believe are relevant and will complement the primary curriculum across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

With rapid technological innovation, a growing population and a changing climate, the way we generate and use energy must respond. The North East has an innovative energy community that is responding, to contribute to new solutions that provide clean, secure, and accessible energy. Within the broader Energy sector there are 3 key growing subsectors: Offshore energy and subsea technology Electric vehicles and battery technology Low-carbon heat Each presents opportunity to drive economic growth and deliver more and better jobs. This toolkit focuses on these three growing subsectors within the North East Energy sector, highlighting a range of job roles, skills, and routes into careers.
