Students explore the use of Nuclear weaponry and evaluate whether if the UK needs nuclear weapons. They will also learn about the Christian and Islamic views and incorporate these views into a debate as a summary to the lesson.

Students explore the impact of the resurrection of Jesus and the various Christian explanations for this.

Students evaluate if whether religion is a cause for war and violence. They will learn historical examples of religious war as well as recent examples of this. The case study about Charlie Hebdo ties in with the Islamic principles of a just war. Students explore the idea of the attack being disproportionate which sparks an interesting debate. My students spoke quite passionately about how wrong the attack was and what could have been done instead.

GCSE lesson for AQA religious studies. This lesson explores the understanding of Peace, justice, forgiveness and reconciliation. Students will learn the definitions for each in the context of war and conflict as well explore relevant examples.

Students understand what the term Pacifism means and also what the Christian and Islamic attitudes are towards Pacifism. They will learn and apply religious evidence to a practice exam question with an opportunity to peer assess. Students used the worksheet independently with my class.

This lesson explores the Christian beliefs about creation focusing on genesis. Students explore the accounts of genesis in detail to understand the passage in depth.

Students learn the various reasons why countries engage in war. Towards the end of the lesson, they will be able to evaluate if whether the reasons for war are justified. This lesson requires the AQA Islam textbook in order to complete the activity on slide 4.

Students learn about the incarnation of God and religious evidence for this. Students also learn about the importance of this belief and link this to genesis.

This lesson focus’s on the new testament interpretation of the belief in the incarnation. Students do a paired work activity where they read st Matthew and St Luke’s gospel and teach each other the beliefs. This lesson ends with an opportunity for a class debate.
