There are a variety of worksheets in the document which can be double-sided for a challenge. There are multiple levels of differentiation and a 'challenge sheet&' should pupils finish.
I used this with a year 2 class but it proved quite challenging for most so it could be used with year 3 dependent on the class.
A range of worded problems I have used with a year 3 class. They are differentiated into red (R), amber (A) and green (G), with red being the simplest (for those feeling very unconfident) and green being for those who are super confident/requiring enrichment.
Collated some problems from different sources and added my own. Thank you to other contributors.
Differentiated worksheet for adding and subtracting decimals that involves dice. Children roll the dice which gives them the digits for their calculations. I used this in a year 6 class but it could be adapted.
I was invited to an interview where the given topic for the lesson was 'Awe and Wonder&'. I was given a choice of English or maths to teach but that had to be the theme. This is the lesson that I taught; the children were really engaged and the interview panel loved it! It only lasts 25mins (as planned) but there is scope for extending it into a theme that covers a series of lessons.
A scavenger hunt for pupils which allows them to explore their new classroom and the children in it. A good way of including children who are new to the school/class. Can be adapted to include wider school environment.
