Monopoly style game to get children practising working out time intervals in 24 hour clock time Used with a mid ability Year 6 class before using and interpreting timetables but opportunities to extend or scaffold by changing the dice used.

A 3 session lesson plan and powerpoint on physical weathering ( freeze-thaw and onion-skin weathering,) chemical and biological weathering. Some differentiation included and activities easily differentiated by outcome. Opportunities to practice writing instructional and explanation texts. used with a Year 6 class but suitable for KS2 and probably KS3!

Grammopoly Get children practising identifying nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, conjunctions and determiners. Good revision material or practise identifying word classes. Some questions based on KS2 GPS paper 1. Used with my mixed ability Year 6 class in an international school following the Cambridge curriculum and in top set English state school as revision for SATs last year. Support card to remind children of how to identify each word class attached as well for less confident children.

Sorting activity getting children to distinguish between progressive and perfect tenses in verbs. Good KS2 SATs revision

Year 6 Adding Fractions differentiated Puzzle Activity. Children solve each card, deciding whether the answer given is true or false in order to place all the cards in a perfect loop. Great for giving a purpose to adding fractions & developing independence. Incorrectly placed cards mean they won't link up to form a loop and children will know to go back and check their previous working. Good revision for the SATs Arithmetic paper too!

Sort vocabulary depending on register and level of formality. Gets children talking about standard and non-standard English and thinking about vocabulary choice.

Written for a class of 13 Year 6 children linked to our learning about the Battle of Hastings (with some Science interruptions based on our learning about the human body) With music, the performance was about 15 minutes long powerpoint with music used is attached.

Made for a mixed ability Y6 class. This lesson uses Limericks to introduce rhyming patterns and rhythm. Ppt and lesson resources attached. Differentiated.

UKS2 lesson on assonance. Uses a mix of songs to teach assonance, with quizzes to check children’s understanding before the independent task identifying assonance in a choice of two poems.

Differentiated lesson on punctuating lists using: commas in simple lists (SC1 task) commas in more complex lists (SC2 task) semi-colons in lists containing other punctuation. (SC3 task) context Used for distance learning/ homelearning with a mixed ability class of Y7&8 children in an international school with a high percentage of EAL following the Cambridge International curriculum. Also suitable for KS2/Y6 N.C.

Run as a mixed Year 3- Year 8 science and cookery club with a group of 12 children. Session plans, recipes and an order list. Roughly a half-term's worth of two sessions per week. Topics covered are: seed dispersal, sexual and asexual plant reproduction, melting and freezing, irreverisble and reversible changes, useful micro-organisms, the structure of the earth.
