This is a fun, engaging scheme of work with a high level of challenge and lots of opportunities for learners to be creative. A scheme of learning that introduces learners to myths from a diverse range of cultures and traditions. Students learn the cultural context of each myth and practice core comprehension skills while reading. They then study the use of language in the myth, focusing on a different component of grammar each time (word classes, sentence forms, etc.) and produce their own piece of writing inspired by what they have read. Unit Overview ● Introduction to myths from a variety of perspectives and backgrounds. ● Introduction to character archetypes (hero, villain, trickster etc.) ● Focus on narrative and descriptive writing skills. ● Practising and developing reading comprehension skills - retrieving information from a text, making inferences, summarising, predicting ● An introduction/Review of core grammar features: word classes, sentence forms, etc. This scheme takes approximately 6-8 weeks to complete.
