(1)
This complete plan is designed to meet the "new" 2014 National Curriculum's Year 1 "Tell the time to the hour and half past the hour." The whole lesson is planned, including starter activity, main activity and plenary. Differentiated activities are included and extensions for higher ability children. The worksheets are editable to be adapted to your class's needs. The lesson requires minimal marking, but includes sheets for adults to assess whether children are secure with telling the time on analogue clocks. Year 3 Editable Story Writing Activity

Year 3 - 45 minute writing activity You will just need access to the music "Pomp and Circumstance" by Sir Edward Elgar to play for your class. This is available for free on YouTube. An interactive whiteboard timer may also be useful so children can keep track of how much time they have left. This worksheet splits up writing activity into the imaginative stage, the planning stage, the writing stage, and the checking stage. Children will jot down ideas / pictures whilst listening to Pomp and Circumstance, and then go onto the next section of the sheet to answer questions which will help them plan their narrative. Editable success criteria can help the children check their work with particular targets in mind at the end. This activity requires minimal teacher input, since the sheet is self-explanatory. In this way, it is a good option for independent writing sessions.

Year 1 and Year 2 Tell the Time Editable Maths Game

Ideal for Year 1 / Year 2, especially to meet the "new" 2014 National Curriculum's targets to "tell the time to the hour and half past the hour" and "tell and write the time to five minutes, including quarter past/to the hour" respectively. A game to play with counters and dice to land on different times and then show them on mini clocks. What does this task do? It helps children find the time to the hour and half hour on analogue clocks and link it to the time written out in words. As an extension, it also challenges children to use mathematical vocabulary to describe time (such as earlier, before, after). Minimal marking, but with sheets which teachers/adults in the room can use to assess whether children are secure with telling certain times. PLEASE NOTE! For a complete lesson plan and editable worksheets which includes this resource, you can instead purchase: "Year 1 and Year 2 Tell time to the hour and half hour COMPLETE PLAN AND EDITABLE WORKSHEETS".

Year 3 Expanded Multiplication Word Problems Ten by Units

Print this double-sided and you've got two multiplication word problems with a model answer on the back, showing children how to set out their answers - first writing out the calculation, then estimating, then carrying out the expanded method of multiplication, then answering, checking against estimate, and adding units. These are a great starter for a lesson where you will be asking children to make up their own word problems.
