This resource can be used repeatedly and adapted to either introduce semicolons, or revise them before the English Language GCSEs. I was rated ‘Outstanding’ and got a job on the back of it. Hope you find it useful. Interactive. You can also differentiate and print relevant slides accordingly.

These resources took many, many hours to create! Students are guided through a detailed understanding of the text: subtext, themes, fatalism, language, structure, etc. Having marked for the AQA exam board, this helped to inform my planning of these PPTs. Hope you find them useful. I have even included a ‘Teacher’s notes’ slide at the beginning to make prepping lessons super straightforward.

(The preview here only shows resource instruction slides) This is an engaging unit with 19 lessons, which includes lots of pair and group work. It is a great foundational unit for GCSE English as it helps students to build up many key skills. There are teacher notes at the beginning of each PPT to make prep and printing really straightforward and quick. This unit aims to help the students do the following: • Explore many issues and themes: family, disability, independence, depression, poverty and peer pressure; • Pick out key ideas from a book, include evidence and explain (PEEE); • Explain some of the ways a writer influences a reader through narrative voice (the person telling the story); • Recognise some of the ways speakers make choices to influence listeners; • Begin to think about how this book affects a reader through the way it develops; • Pick out words which show the writer’s viewpoint; • Reflect on reading strategies and use them for the right purpose, including predicting and building mental images; • Structure drama performances to explore issues with others in role; Plan and write an essay on a key theme.
