A series of mini introductions to various aspects of Chinese culture and history created by me. These work best as a conversation starter or a plenary and can be used to illustrate a variety of topics. Enjoy!

Created to teach Pre-U history, each ppt (tutorial) can be used to lecture and revise from. Presentations also contain links to articles/videos as appropriate. 'China before Communism&' is a fact sheet that sums up the main facts and players from the Opium Wars to the end of the revolution. Each lecture ends in &';questions for further study' that can be set as homework and discussed in a seminar lesson for which there is a crib sheet for the teacher containing prompts and a mini check-list for key concepts that the students will need to know. The presentation explains what Verlan is and gives the teacher the opportunity to discuss French immigrants, Paris and its social issues. The presentation is designed to aid the teacher in approaching this topic in whatever way they see fit. :)

A ppt that introduces/revises ne...pas structures through the story of French charity Emmaus. Start by reading the story (and link to citizenship/cultural issues) and then teach the ne...pas structure. Last slide asks students to make sentences using the key words and structures raised in this lesson.

Designed for Y7 to introduce avoir and etre whilst reviewing personal descriptions, but may be suitable as a revision tool for any level. Complete the tasks to consolidate conjugation and review (limited) core vocab.

To review descriptions of people. First have a quick quick on some famous French people and discuss at your leisure. Then use the sheets to write descriptions of the people given to you. Help sheets included for lower abilities. I would use as a group activity but can be individual.

Art based activity where students first discuss Chinese porcelain designs then have a go at there own following an initial and final design process.
