A topic pack on Experimental Music, this can be a two lesson unit as a quick introduction or could be spread out over 5 lessons with pupils having a lesson on each music style. Pupil activity cards are included for each style of music (Chance, the prepared piano, Electronic manipulation and Exploring different ways of creating musical sounds). This is a very pupil independent topic with all worksheets and resources included.

An entire 6 lesson unit on the topic Reggae with included scheme of learning, lesson by lesson Powerpoints and a pupil work booklet. The unit focuses on singing skills and the ability to play chords in an off-beat pattern. All learning objectives are levelled and differentiated. I have not included the sheet music for the practical task or audio files for the listening activities due to copyright, however, these can all be found online. I use this as part of a Year 7 Topic on Singing at the start of the school year. It focuses on the importance of warming up, models several different types of warm up activities and leads into whole class singing. This might also be useful for choir warm up activities.

A Scheme of Learning for an Introduction to World Music topic, which explores a different area of study for each lesson. I have also included the booklets that I gave to pupils to promote more independent learning based upon their current levels and end of year target levels. The booklets provide hints, tips and extension work.

This is the pupil booklet for my Reggae Scheme, it covers 6 weeks of lessons with listening activities, lyrics for a vocal performance of “No, woman, no cry” with level assessment criteria, peer and self-assessment and level criteria for a performance of ‘Buffalo Soldier’. You simply need to provide sheet music for ‘Buffalo Soldier’ but this is easily found online. The entire unit including additional worksheets and lesson by lesson presentations along with the full scheme of learning are also available as a bundle for £5. This is just the pupil booklet.

A performance and composition based unit with a focus on Programme music (specifically Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition) as an exploration of the musical elements. A great topic for KS3 as an introduction to composition. All lesson PowerPoint presentations included, along with a comprehensive pupils work booklet, and a differentiated SEND booklet, sheet music, self and peer reflective activity worksheets, and a scheme of learning overview.

A two lesson unit on Baroque dance music, focusing on the Pavane and Galliard. This is part of a wide unit on Dance music which includes the Waltz and Disco, I will be uploading these separately.

An entire unit on Blues Music with lesson by lesson PowerPoints, Unit overview and a worksheet for the first lesson. I could not include the listening exercise sheets as I have not created them (sorry). I have included the homework task which is designed to last the entire unit. I am in the process of transcribing the sheet music and will upload this as soon as I can.
